The Store 180 The Strand

Friday 28 October 2016

Alex Eagle is one of my favourite boutiques in London, and after hearing that their counterpart The Store has opened at 180 The Strand I had to visit. Currently they are holding an exhibition "The infinite mix", immersing the viewer in sound and visuals - it gave way to interpretation: strange, moving and thought provoking.

After the exhibition, I thought I would treat myself to a well deserved tea break. I knew the Store's cafe space would be visually pleasing, but I was not prepared for the plethora of beauty I was about to encounter. It was not the expansive view of the thames that enthralled me, but of the interior space. Giant resin blocks, appearing like crystalized marble were scattered amongst the store. They in particular caused my heart to flutter, they were like modern jewels to decorate the home. Alongside these, were striped stone tables, Beni Ourain rugs and bubbling suede sofas. All were surrounded in light and greenery, I didn't want to leave - it was as if immersing complete relaxation, and aesthetic pleasure.

Isabel Marant Autumn/ Winter 16

Wednesday 12 October 2016

Isabel Marant has shocked and stunned me. After a bout of heavy prints, clunky ruffles and a lack of elegance, something has changed. This season, I have found myself wanting probably half of the mainline and etoile collection. From metallic flickers to simple slouchy sweaters, I have even found the classic dicker boot back on my radar. The five piece ring set has also caught my attention, a delicate variety for each finger.

Refined designs and wearability has surfaced. The designs have an elegance to them, and pieces interlink with one another. It may be the fact that the pieces are looking refreshingly similar to those of 2010-2012, or my inner style may have transformed...
In any case, my desire for simplistic bohemian has been reignited.

New home, new accessories

Tuesday 4 October 2016

Moving into a new apartment calls for new decor and accessories.
Holding a minimal aesthetic, neutrality is my chosen colour theme and these are the peices I am wanting to begin feeling at home.

A sandy, linen cushion so i feel as if i am in a 1960's LA apartment.
A  blown glass vase filled simply with a thin palm branch.
Diptyque candles in aromas of florals and fresh fruit, to create an easy but intense fragrance.
Hand soap and sanitiser, to maintain deliciously scented and clean.

Ikea Cushion, Mark Pavlotis vase (via SophieBuhai.com), Diptyque candle, Jo Malone Hand soap in Mimosa ans Cardamon, Aesop hand Sanitiser.
