Autumn dreaming

Thursday 21 September 2017

Funnily I seem to have forgotten about Margaret Howell as a key contributor to my wardrobe. In previous years, her collections were my first call came autumn-winter, but last year I overrode the collection. This year was, nearly, aplolgitaccly the same. I have found that many of the pieces available are re launches of  years prior, making me not feel the desire to explore what is available. However, It was upon a "chance" encounter in Liberty when I came across this sweater. It does retain the aesthetic of the traditional Roll necks, but with the difference of a funnel neck (very Céline I must say)- minus the price tag. And, then comes another note on that dreaded issue of splurging a usual £365 on said Roll necks- this sweater is priced at £155. Such value comes due to the sweater being part of the MHL line, which I did not realise upon first glance and inspection, and thus, further adding to it's appeal.
Now, it is an item stuck on my mind. I am envisaging bright autumn days turning to early evening, worn with relaxed cropped jeans, Chanel sling backs, finished with The Row's velvet clutch.

Reformation

Thursday 31 August 2017

As of late I have came to a purchasing standstill. Isabel Marant, A.P.C, and Céline (wishful thinking), all being my usual haunts are struggling to inspire me - although remaining dear in my heart.
So, when I found Reformation I suppose I felt some much needed inspiration, brought by their easy and timeless pieces. Their approach still measures up in the minimalistic stakes, but with a feminine quality that I feel my wardrobe lacks.

These are my favourite pieces which I am currently dying for. It is such a shame they are based in the US, or I would probably buy it all.

Summer/ autumn

Sunday 20 August 2017

It is that time of year again: one day it feels as if winter is about to return with ferocious speed, and the next, summer is scorching at unexpected heights. Thanks to these typical conflicting conditions, my mind is a whirr of summer and  autumn winter (when does autumn really happen?) In response, I have composed this outfit to marry the two- in preparation if such turbulence were to occur.  After all, Cream chunky ribbed jumpers are always top of one's autumn checklist, even if they do remain neatly stowed away in case of emergency, or simply worn for pre fall ideals.

Summer sandals

Tuesday 18 July 2017

Sandals for Summer. Of course. I am drawn to wedges and block heels currently, the height with comfort that they bring (or vice versa) is drawing my appeal.
These are currently on my mind.
1) Castañer Becca Satin Wedge
2) Castañer Blaudel wedge
3) Gucci Marmount Shoe

Buttons

Thursday 15 June 2017

I'm having a thing for buttons. Buttons down the middle, down the side, obscurely positioned, at the wrist, but especially in the plastic traditional 4 hole style.
Buttons can generate fear in a person, (my best friends dad has a major phobia, but that's a different story) but in my case they have brought out a love I forgot I ever had. As a teenager I would collect multitudes of them, heading to my local textile shop to fill up a £1 bag to the brim. Perhaps that is why I am drawn to them, and immediately wanting to purchase any item which includes them (in a simplistic manner of course). These are the images which have been tantalising my button taste buds.

Céline triple Cabas

Tuesday 30 May 2017

I have been wanting a luxury shopper bag for a while now. Carrying fabric tote bags are really useful, but sometimes they feel too much of an essential to make an outfit feel 'special'. I have been in and out of Céline boutiques all spring, and simply didn't find any that caught my eye. So, when I found this shopper on Vestiaire Collective I knew it was exactly what I have been looking for. I actually remember trying it on back in Autumn 2013 when it was released. I am so happy I have finally got the bag I actually wanted, sometimes you do just have to wait for the right one...

Maryam Nassir Zadeh Miguelina cullottes

Tuesday 9 May 2017

Two of my biggest fashion obsessions have joined forces to create utter perfection. Maryam Nassir Zadeh, and my go-to holy grail of culottes, have combined to produce a pair of dreamy cropped trousers. Not only do they deliciously compliment a natural summer tan, their added-extra of a side slit has me envisaging breezy days, and a fluid silhouette.
