Isabel Marant Autumn/ Winter 16

Wednesday, 12 October 2016

Isabel Marant has shocked and stunned me. After a bout of heavy prints, clunky ruffles and a lack of elegance, something has changed. This season, I have found myself wanting probably half of the mainline and etoile collection. From metallic flickers to simple slouchy sweaters, I have even found the classic dicker boot back on my radar. The five piece ring set has also caught my attention, a delicate variety for each finger.

Refined designs and wearability has surfaced. The designs have an elegance to them, and pieces interlink with one another. It may be the fact that the pieces are looking refreshingly similar to those of 2010-2012, or my inner style may have transformed...
In any case, my desire for simplistic bohemian has been reignited.

New home, new accessories

Tuesday, 4 October 2016

Moving into a new apartment calls for new decor and accessories.
Holding a minimal aesthetic, neutrality is my chosen colour theme and these are the peices I am wanting to begin feeling at home.

A sandy, linen cushion so i feel as if i am in a 1960's LA apartment.
A  blown glass vase filled simply with a thin palm branch.
Diptyque candles in aromas of florals and fresh fruit, to create an easy but intense fragrance.
Hand soap and sanitiser, to maintain deliciously scented and clean.

Maryam Nassir Zadeh Brown Clara teeshirt

Wednesday, 21 September 2016

A teeshirt is a staple piece, however I haven't worn one since I was a child. But thanks to Maryam Nassir Zadeh, I have reintroduced it into my wardrobe. Being my favourite shade of brown: delicious chocolatey chestnut, I knew it would be a perfect new addition. Envisaging it for late summer made me immediately need it, and now I shall be happily wearing it through until autumn.
Another new addition is my apartment, where I shall taking more outfit pictures. Thanks to the windowed backdrop and its natural light, it provides a perfect setting to take photographs.

Heavy silver

Thursday, 1 September 2016

Heavy gleaming silver is bringing my pulse racing. There is something so enchanting about the appearance of molten metal clasping a wrist, or dripping from an ear. Perhaps it is it's shimmer or its appearance of expensive weight. Whatever it is I am heavily drawn in, and from ring, earring to bracelet I want to be wearing it.

Nandi Naya Yoli earrings

Thursday, 4 August 2016

Dadaism has never enthralled me, I prefer the visible effort in impressionism. These earrings inspired  by artist Jean Arp however have enticed me. The way the hover on the ear, and their smooth simplicity fulfil my minimal tendencies. I have said before, I enjoy the way earrings can bring the beauty of sculpture to the body- and these minimal hoops certainly do.

Summer hue

Friday, 22 July 2016

The season of heat, excitement and vibrancy seems to have finally arrived. My mind is focusing on the warm haze it brings, and the colour palette to match. Shades of putty, ivory, silver and tawny  have been central to my inner moodboard. Here are the current images filling my mind.

Salvatore Ferragamo twin set

Tuesday, 12 July 2016

Two images spring to mind when thinking of a twin set: a 1940s secretary or an elegant sixties editorial. I hope this golden duo encapsulates the latter, with perhaps a slinky 90s feel.
The metallic hue of the silk does reflect the sheen of the decade, with the golden tips of the cardigan tie adding that extra sparkle. The combination of a two piece gives me a great sense of satisfaction, with the pieces allowing for mixing and matching. With this set, I will be wearing it from day to night thanks to the muted tone, and simplicity.
