Autumn dreaming

Thursday, 21 September 2017

Funnily I seem to have forgotten about Margaret Howell as a key contributor to my wardrobe. In previous years, her collections were my first call came autumn-winter, but last year I overrode the collection. This year was, nearly, aplolgitaccly the same. I have found that many of the pieces available are re launches of  years prior, making me not feel the desire to explore what is available. However, It was upon a "chance" encounter in Liberty when I came across this sweater. It does retain the aesthetic of the traditional Roll necks, but with the difference of a funnel neck (very Céline I must say)- minus the price tag. And, then comes another note on that dreaded issue of splurging a usual £365 on said Roll necks- this sweater is priced at £155. Such value comes due to the sweater being part of the MHL line, which I did not realise upon first glance and inspection, and thus, further adding to it's appeal.
Now, it is an item stuck on my mind. I am envisaging bright autumn days turning to early evening, worn with relaxed cropped jeans, Chanel sling backs, finished with The Row's velvet clutch.

Reformation

Thursday, 31 August 2017

As of late I have came to a purchasing standstill. Isabel Marant, A.P.C, and Céline (wishful thinking), all being my usual haunts are struggling to inspire me - although remaining dear in my heart.
So, when I found Reformation I suppose I felt some much needed inspiration, brought by their easy and timeless pieces. Their approach still measures up in the minimalistic stakes, but with a feminine quality that I feel my wardrobe lacks.

These are my favourite pieces which I am currently dying for. It is such a shame they are based in the US, or I would probably buy it all.

Summer/ autumn

Sunday, 20 August 2017

It is that time of year again: one day it feels as if winter is about to return with ferocious speed, and the next, summer is scorching at unexpected heights. Thanks to these typical conflicting conditions, my mind is a whirr of summer and  autumn winter (when does autumn really happen?) In response, I have composed this outfit to marry the two- in preparation if such turbulence were to occur.  After all, Cream chunky ribbed jumpers are always top of one's autumn checklist, even if they do remain neatly stowed away in case of emergency, or simply worn for pre fall ideals.

Summer sandals

Tuesday, 18 July 2017

Sandals for Summer. Of course. I am drawn to wedges and block heels currently, the height with comfort that they bring (or vice versa) is drawing my appeal.
These are currently on my mind.
1) Castañer Becca Satin Wedge
2) Castañer Blaudel wedge
3) Gucci Marmount Shoe

Buttons

Thursday, 15 June 2017

I'm having a thing for buttons. Buttons down the middle, down the side, obscurely positioned, at the wrist, but especially in the plastic traditional 4 hole style.
Buttons can generate fear in a person, (my best friends dad has a major phobia, but that's a different story) but in my case they have brought out a love I forgot I ever had. As a teenager I would collect multitudes of them, heading to my local textile shop to fill up a £1 bag to the brim. Perhaps that is why I am drawn to them, and immediately wanting to purchase any item which includes them (in a simplistic manner of course). These are the images which have been tantalising my button taste buds.

Céline triple Cabas

Tuesday, 30 May 2017

I have been wanting a luxury shopper bag for a while now. Carrying fabric tote bags are really useful, but sometimes they feel too much of an essential to make an outfit feel 'special'. I have been in and out of Céline boutiques all spring, and simply didn't find any that caught my eye. So, when I found this shopper on Vestiaire Collective I knew it was exactly what I have been looking for. I actually remember trying it on back in Autumn 2013 when it was released. I am so happy I have finally got the bag I actually wanted, sometimes you do just have to wait for the right one...

Maryam Nassir Zadeh Miguelina cullottes

Tuesday, 9 May 2017

Two of my biggest fashion obsessions have joined forces to create utter perfection. Maryam Nassir Zadeh, and my go-to holy grail of culottes, have combined to produce a pair of dreamy cropped trousers. Not only do they deliciously compliment a natural summer tan, their added-extra of a side slit has me envisaging breezy days, and a fluid silhouette.

Spring

Thursday, 20 April 2017

I'm bridging the gap between winter and spring with this this outfit. I'm not quite ready to bare too much flesh and reveal my arms just yet, so I have stuck to a classic black jumper. A hint of ankle cleavage works a treat to bring some 'springiness' to my cosy oversized knit. I thought I would throw in my chalk Maryam Nassir Zadeh pumps for good measure- adding a bright touch to my typical cold day look.

Tiffany Elsa Perreti

Wednesday, 29 March 2017

There is always a classic piece of jewellery you wish to own. You never want to take it off, as you wish for it to be a part of you. I have been so fortunate to receive this triple diamond bracelet by Elsa Peretti for Tiffany. I love the the way that each of the diamonds sparkle, reflecting the light and fluidly sitting at each part of the wrist.

Diptyque Baies candle and Roses pomander

Tuesday, 21 March 2017

These two items have to be the most perfect scents for spring. I found L'ombre dan L'eau perfume last year, and since I cannot get enough of the rosy and fruity fragrance. To incorporate the aromas into my home, I found purchasing this duo of would work perfectly.

I selected the Baies candle to burn throughout the day and evening. I do tend to burn it whenever I like, as the fresh yet warming notes provide a delicious balance. I fell in love with the the Rose scented pomander as is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also provides a space with a fresh underlying scent. When combing the two, the atmosphere is filled with such a calming fragrance, which I think is impossible to tire from.

White shirts

Sunday, 12 March 2017

I am having a white shirt obsession. If I come across a look involving the crisp white shirt I will either like it or save it. Just the thought of wearing one with a summer tan gives me tingles. I have actually accidentally caused myself a collection of images to look through for aesthetic satisfaction.

Culottes for 2017

Tuesday, 28 February 2017

Culottes may be beginning to gain the connotation of "so last year", but for me they will remain a forever needed piece. These are the three pairs which have caught my eye.
1: Jonathan Simkhai 2: Frame Denim 3: Osman

Max Mara Autumn Winter 2017

Saturday, 25 February 2017

In a world of Max Mara everything is wearable. The large oversized coats, flowing culottes, sumptuous velvet, and parallel scarfs. This collection has got me obsessively scrolling and analysing every detail from the high neck knits, perfectly pointed heels and undone hair. The hues used too: honeyed caramel, dove grey and satin black- I really could steal every look.

Chanel slingbacks

Tuesday, 21 February 2017

Sometimes buying the same pair of shoes twice is a good idea. I bought the flat Chanel slingbacks one year ago and deeply regret not purchasing another pair, or the heeled version. Now, my flat pairs are beginning to loose their sparkling, new-ness and I have been craving/needing a replacement. Realising this, quickly formed an obsession to find a new pair. Monthly (weekly?) visits to Chanel and constant online searching for the dearly loved flats brought no joy. Until last week that is... Having been away from London for a few weeks, I hadn't visited Chanel in a while, so a trip was required. And then, there they were. No, not the rare flats, but the ever-rare mini heel.
Here they are.

Wishing for early spring

Thursday, 9 February 2017

We all may be dreaming of spring, but unfortunately British climates still remain freezing (well extremely cold). To combine the two seasonal elements, an ivory turtle neck sweater and a pair of cropped culottes create the perfect equilibrium. With the addition of these peep toe sling backs, a glimpse of warmer days are possible.

Outfit inspiration

Friday, 20 January 2017

A classic navy sweater, cropped white jeans, Chanel slingbacks and silver hoops all come together to form an easy go-to outfit. The relaxed shapes of the knit and denim allow for an effortless pairing, while the silver hoops, mid-heel and contrasting hues are the perfect way to create a refined everyday look.

Velvet duo

Tuesday, 10 January 2017

Happy New year! A resolution usually follows, however this year I do not intend to apply such pressure but enjoy life as it comes.
With that looking forward out of the way, comes looking backward. This velvet combination came into my wardrobe autumn/winter 2015, and will carry me into this 2017 early spring. Its luxurious quality always has me feeling elegant when wearing it, while the minimality provides the ease to dress up or down. Usually I would pair the duo with my Valentino Tangos and oversized earrings, however this time I feel like these slouchy glove shoes provide the perfect informal approach.

Winter in London

Thursday, 15 December 2016

A wintery day in London calls for exploring the most beautiful parts of the city.  Strolling through Belgravia brought me to this unusual block of apartments, which I found so aesthetically pleasing.  Contrasting to the traditional white fronted town houses, I found their stark minimalism very intriguing.

Christmas wishlist

Friday, 9 December 2016

I understand that I am no longer a child, however every Christmas I do compile a list which I (imagine to) send to Santa Claus. This year is no exception, with these little luxuries being central to my mind.
1: Sophie Buhai illusion hoops - the perfect earring for every occasion. I can imagine wearing them on christmas eve to add some sophisticated sparkle to a simple sweater.
2: Charlotte Chesnais gamma ring- delicately wrapping around the fingers, the smooth metal provides a fluid hand adornment, one which will greatly compliment any outfit.
3: The Céline cabas shopper. With its dreamy black leather and stamped golden logo, I simply cannot resist. Having an addition of shape changing tightening straps, its transformative nature provides so many looks and sizes to play with.
